Siquijor by Ferry: Taking a Scooter or Car Across
This page is for anyone who wants to see Siquijor under their own steam: which ferries carry vehicles, what they cost, how long the crossing takes, and how to ride the island's 72 km loop in a day or two. Siquijor is a separate province, so a RODG vehicle only goes across with our agreement at booking, and the outside-province add-on applies. Read that section before you plan.
First, confirm with RODG
Whether a particular RODG scooter or car may be taken on a ferry is confirmed with us at booking, not assumed. Siquijor is outside Negros Oriental, so any vehicle that does cross carries the per-vehicle "Drive Outside Negros Oriental" add-on, chosen when you book. Tell us your dates and which sailing you plan to take and we will tell you what is possible.
Vehicle ferries (RoRo) from Dumaguete
Two roll-on roll-off operators sail from the Dumaguete city port to Siquijor town, both taking about 2 hours. Fares move with fuel surcharges - MARINA raised the surcharge cap to 30% on 30 March 2026 - so check the operator's current schedule and fare before you go.

Aleson is the cheaper of the two. Montenegro's more frequent timetable is the one that makes a day trip work.
Fast craft: passengers only
OceanJet runs a 45-minute fast craft from the Dumaguete city port to Siquijor, with departures around 7:20 am and 7:10 pm plus mid-day sailings on some schedules. Published 2025 fares are about PHP 350 tourist class and PHP 580 business class. It carries no vehicles, so it only helps if you plan to hire on the island rather than take a RODG vehicle across. OceanJet also continues from Siquijor to Tagbilaran in Bohol.
The 72 km loop
Siquijor's circumferential road is 72 km, paved and mostly gentle, which is why it is such a good scooter island. The classic direction is clockwise via Lazi: Cambugahay Falls early before the crowds, then Lazi church, then Salagdoong Beach. The inland roads up to Mt Bandilaan are steep, so leave those for a second day or a stronger bike.

A day trip is feasible on the first sailing with an evening return, but two days is comfortable and lets you add the inland roads and a sunset without racing the last boat.
Holy Week and long weekends
The Dumaguete port gets very crowded for Siquijor over Holy Week and long weekends. Arrive early and buy tickets ahead rather than on the day. Across the region, Holy Week also brings heavy beach traffic from Wednesday to Sunday and many businesses close on Thursday and Friday, so plan fuel and food accordingly.
Fuel on the island
Siquijor has fuel stations in Siquijor town, Larena, Lazi and San Juan. Fill up when you land and top up in Lazi on the way round; with a 72 km loop you are never far from a pump, but do not leave it until the last stretch before the evening sailing.
Getting there and parking
Both RoRo operators and OceanJet leave from the Dumaguete city port, a short ride from Rizal Boulevard. If you are taking a vehicle, arrive well before departure so it can be loaded; if you are crossing as a foot passenger on the fast craft, ask us about returning the vehicle first rather than leaving it at the port.
Which vehicle to book
Siquijor rewards small, light vehicles: cheaper on the ferry and easier on the island.
- Scooter, the natural choice: a Yamaha NMAX 155 or Honda Click 125 is the way most people do Siquijor - the motorcycle ferry fare is a fraction of the car rate, and the loop is gentle. You need a motorcycle entitlement on your home licence and a helmet on every ride.
- Budget scooter: the Honda XRM 110 is a manual bike at the lowest daily rate, fine for the flat coastal loop if you are used to gears.
- Car, only if agreed at booking: a Toyota Wigo is the smallest and cheapest to ship if we agree a car may cross; a bigger vehicle costs more on the ferry and is unnecessary for the island's roads.
